Annual PUBNET® Conference Moves to Orlando
Move signals Pubnet's inclusion in mainstream E-marketplace, enables Pubnet
users to participate in GE Information Services' Solutions '99
Conference Agenda and
Registration Form
Washington, DC, January 20, 1999. Pubnet LLC, the developer of PubnetTM the
pioneering e-commerce system that links booksellers, publishers and suppliers announced that
the 1999 Annual Pubnet Conference is being held in conjunction with the GE Information
Services' (GEIS) Solutions '99 conference. The Pubnet Conference, addressing the EDI and e-
commerce concerns of the publishing/bookselling community, will be held February 20-21 at
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, Orlando, Florida. GEIS' Solutions '99 will be held February
20-24 at the same hotel.
"Pubnet has made great strides since the last Pubnet Conference and Y2K-compliant, EDI
systems like ours are making the Internet commerce revolution possible," said Andrew Gregory,
managing director of Pubnet LLC.
Pubnet Conference highlights includes updates on the new services including Rapid ResponseTM,
Pubnet Internet services, customer based presentations on new document trading,
information about the new on-line database services, information about the online bookselling
revolution, the Pubnet response to the Y2K problems and much more. Ginny Dittmar, former
chair of the AAP PUBNET Marketing Committee, noted, "In these times, when electronic
commerce is quickly replacing other, more outdated and expensive forms of business to business
communications, the PUBNET conferences have been the best place to find out what's
happening in the college store communities and the EDI world at large. We couldn't run our
business without the PUBNET services."
"With start-ups like varsitybooks.com and the potential Ingram/Barnes & Noble deal driving
interest in bookselling, this is a perfect time for PUBNET users and potential PUBNET users
to find out about this industry-funded EDI system. The PUBNET conference also gives
booksellers another chance to network with industry colleagues," commented Dave Moffatt,
Marketing Director at NACS.
"With the consolidation that has been taking place in the publishing industry over the last year,
publishers need to use every EDI tool available to them. PUBNET and Pubnet are the only
independent Internet commerce systems available to them," added Don Burden, Director of
Marketing Services at McGraw-Hill Higher Education.
